Mission Statement:
To create art that evokes memories of joy, whimsy and texture.
Artist Statement:
Making Art is a journey, and I am on one! I have the need and desire to create, and to create in an original way. Finding my “style” is always evolving, and this leads me on many adventures – be it on walks or exploring thrift stores and junk yards with my camera, or while manipulating a variety of medium and materials onto paper or canvas. Through these adventures I have discovered that I love textures and that they are influential in my art. Whether capturing them through the lens of my camera or producing them in my artwork, I find them to be expressive and communicative and I often wonder what stories they would tell if they could… the rust on nails, paint on an old door, or the type on a page of an old book. As a (retired) art teacher, my work is also influenced by the students I taught and their love and enthusiasm for art journals. So in addition painting on pages is my way of remembering and honoring students and teaching.
